The Montreal International History Film Festival, proud partner of the Festival d’Histoire de Montréal, will present its fourth edition from May 18 to 22, 2022 at the Cinémathèque québécoise in a hybrid approach.
This annual cultural event is dedicated to historical cinema. Its founders, filmmakers and historians, are passionate about the way history is expressed through the cinematic medium. The mission of the MIHFF is to promote cinema and other related media that highlight history and its representations. The founders of the festival wish to bring back to the forefront the role of the dialogue between cinema and history for a better understanding of current social issues, both in Quebec and Canada, as well as in the world. The festival is interested in the spreading, popularization and transmission of historical knowledge through a form of art and cinematographic creation, fiction, animation or documentary.
